Can GP`s mix with hamsters. I know rabbits kick GP`s and can kill or lame the GP`s, but what about GP`s and hamsters mixing? I have a feeling its not possible.

I have never tried it and don't no anyone who has or would but i certainly wouldn't think about trying it. hamsters are just to little for a guinea pig.

A hamsters care is very different to a guinea pigs..for a start, guinea pigs need lots of veggies dailies and unlimited hay, whereas hamsters shouldn't have hay (well, it's debated whether they should or not) and guinea pigs have far too many veggies for them to eat. Lots of other things too, including that guinea pigs are a lot bigger than hammies.

My hamster and guinea pigs don't live together, but when the guinea pigs have play time so does the hamster and they are fine.

Guinea pigs need interaction of their own kind, whereas a lot of breeds of hamsters prefer to be alone, so wouldn't offer that interaction.

Never! The GP would kill it. Also the Hams need different care to GPs.

Actually it's the other way around. A syrian hamster could easily attack and seriously harm a guinea pig. Syrians are absolutely solitary creatures. Not to mention hamsters are omnivores and guinea pigs are herbivores.

Why on earth would anyone want to give them even playtime together when there's the risk of injury to one or both?

me and my partner went into wilsons the other day and a lady was saying how she kept a hamster with a rabbit and she said they were fine.

but I'm sorry i think that is wrong there is no way a hammy would stand chance of a rabbit.

I have a syrian hamster and I would nver put him near my piggys even though he is lovely! I let him run around in his ball whilst the piggys are playing (under supervision!), but they cant physically get near to each other becuase of the ball

Syrian hamsters have to live solitary - they will eat another hamster so probably wouldn't think much of a piggy!

Totally bizarre!

I wouldn't trust any of my hamsters with a guineapig!
All the hamsters i've had have been attacking machines with other hamsters and me! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
dread to think what injuries they would cause a guinea pig! ?
