I was just wondering randomly. Ive moved my piggies Omlet Eglu to let the grass grow and sprinkled some grass seed on the mud. I was wondering if I should sprinkle my whole lawn. My poor piggies havent managed to get out much with all this rain :(
Does anyone know if its harmful for piggies to eat grass seeds by accident if i sprinkled the grass and let my girls graze?

Sorry about the random question. Thanks for any replies in advance.

I was thinking the same thing but only half of my lawn is that bad and the bit that is shaded by the wall is still growing well and they have sufficient long strands there :)

Grass seed is not harmful, but won't do the trick if eaten. Can you sprinkle bit by bit and protect it until it's grown?

Alternatively, you can grow grass in shallow trays and then plant it out, replacing whole patches.

I have like an old huge tray that I was using for keeping small garden pots in and watering. I was thinking of washig it, filling it with compost and putting grass seeds in so they can have an indoor little grass plot for the winter!
Would this be ok do you think?

Yep. I have trays of grass growing on my windowsills as my pigs can't go outside. It's amazing how quickly they can polish a tray off! :(|)

Grass seeds only take about a week or so to grow from seed and then about a week to regrow to a good length once 'trimmed'.
