I finally got my boars to get along again!

Remember how i told you guys that they were fine for a few months and once i brought the girl home , i had her cage next to them and i guess they could smell her. Oh boy they went nuts, fighting non stop. I even found blood in the cage thats when i decided to separate them. I tried a few times to put them together again and i made the mistake of separating them once they started fighting. So everytime i would put them together it was like starting all over again.

I decided to let them run in the bathroom put tons of veggies, food, water etc... and they were going at each other, we let them be! then decided to clean out the whole cage and put them in there together and put a grid diving them where they could contact each other and smell each other but couldnt fight. Well that did the trick, last night we took the grid out and they were just fine! a little chasing at first but that stopped quickly and then even laid down next to each other. We were afraid that they were going to fight over night but this morning everything was fine and they were just getting along like they were before! We are super happy about this.

They're so handsome!
Hope all remains calm between them.

Glad that the re-intro is working!

Please do not keep boars next to sows, especially not as teenagers when hormones run at an all time high, especially if you are introducing sows into a boars only zone! It can seriously derail boys.

We strongly recommend to ideally keep boars and sows in different room, if that is not possible, at opposite ends of a room, and if that is not an option, You keep the boars above the girls. They should not be in line of sight and reach of sow pheromones.

Always feed, handle and clean boars before sows so you do not carry the scent across.

Yes! i learned the hard way lol they are now in separate rooms! I made an appointment to neuter Lucas, next it will be Elvis that way i can keep them each in a cage with a sow or two, meaning a board per cage with a few females

Glad they are getting on again but as above I wondered why you bothered if you are going to neuter them and split them again!

Well i plan on separating them but not anytime soon because I'm in the middle of building a new wooden cage but thats going to take a few for me to set it up. At the moment i dont have the space to keep 3 large cages for them so thats why i wanted to keep the two boys together and the female i have separate. I mean i could keep the two boys together forever i just figured they would be happier living with girls no?

if they have bonded with each other I would leave them as a pair. Neutering is a big operation that shouldn't be taken lightly. Lots of people keep pairs of boars and they get along well.

Good luck whatever you decide.

umm thats definitely something to thing about. I didnt want to do the operation to begin with afraid that something wold happen to any of them. So i might just keep them together. Lets see how it goes this week

Keep them well away from the sow as smelling her could cause a fall out. Separate rooms ideally. Good luck.
