my 8 month old smooth short haird guinea is white and ginger if this help in realtion to her skin colour, she has grey specks in her fur which go all my hand when i stroke her etc. they dont move I'm confused as to weather its her skin flaking off or maybe eggs? wither way I'm off to buy some spot on and antifungel shampoo for her tomorrow is this the right things to do?

This happened my pigs and turned out to be static mites/lice that are a mite from straw and hay.

I couldnt see them move either until i took my pigs to the vet and the vet showed my the mites under the microscope....

I got some gorgeous guineas lice shampoo which worked really well.

my poor baby piggie! well ill do both since shes in a cage with her do you think regular guinea pig spot on will do the job? think ill buy some anti lice shampoo to

That happened with me and I panicked that it was static mites. I took Mini G to the vet and he said that it was just dandruffy type stuff and dust from the hay!
It was only in the outer hair nothing near the skin.
Now it's back and making me paranoid!

Here are some Pictures of Cupcake when she had static lice. The rest of the Piggies did too but hers was the most noticable.
If you look in the bottom right hand corner you will notice a 'peppered' erea of her hair.

They are fairly easy to get rid of with a proprietry piggy friendly insecticide, not forgetting to repeat the dose later after eggs have hatched.

Try Lice 'n Easy shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas. It did the trick with my 5. Their coats were beautiful afterwards. It will cost you around £9, and I did my 5 and used 1/2 bottle. So it goes a long way.

very useful photos on here, Ive just checked my boys and there is nothing like this on their coats.....Ive started a thread called "Coat condition".

Now looking at these photos I can safely rule out static lice as they have nothing like this....its just small flakes of skin.

No they are definitely skin because they are flat, not egg shaped.

I brushed them both over both black paper and white paper, and there were no moving parts or egg shaped things :)
