Grief

Since Scarby became an angel 0 Rocky has changed in temperamant. Rocky was always a difficult, eccentric and odd little pig, and was very close to Scarby. Now Rocky is angry all the time, beating up the little ones, snapping at me, and seems so miserable. I think it's grief.

I think you are right Lucinda. When piggies are close & one passes away the other one feels it & it does effect them. Some get depressed & some seem to get angry like your Rocky bless him.

I don't know what would help him? If he was on his own then getting him a friend would probably help but as he already has some little one there then I really don't know? :-\

Maybe he just needs time to grieve like us humans.

Poor little man it's been soo many changes for him, he is getting a little older now perhaps he is grief stricken :'( :'( :'(

Awwww bless him I think I would be the same if I had been through what he has. I hope he is back to normal soon

I'm sorry to hear about Scarby.

When one of our piggies, Scrumple, died her 'sister' and hutch-mate almost died as well with grief. We had to buy her two new friends and she soon perked up.

As for Rocky, it must be really horrible for him. Guinea pigs certainly show a lot of grief for their loved ones (just shows what wonderful creatures they are). All I can say is give him lots of hugs and time. Hopefully eventually you'll see an improvement.

I thought Rocky was getting on OK with the little ones but I don't think that is the case. Rocky will just about put up with Riffy, but I think prefers human company to that of another pig.

awww.. poor little fella. he's been through a lot just lately and it's hard for him as well as you (as i'm sure you know) . little piggies probably have to let it out some way too, i guess, when Ginger died, Patch was off his food (unheard of! ;D ) and seemed upset, i guess they all have different ways of showing it. i'm sure he will perk up soon, is he with others? because Patch cheered up when i rescued another little friend for him, if Rocky is, then there's not much more you can do, just give him a bit of a fuss if he'll let you. good luck, i'm sure he'll be fine! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
