@helen105281 Hi Helen I have read a post in which you said about giving gripe water to help bloat, my fudge was just having lap time and he's not happy about me touching his tummy he's jumpy. How much gripe water should give him please.

Do you have the Woodwards one? white bottle with a pink label? I give up to 3ml every few hours.

Is he pooing ok?

Massage would help relieve any gas too, you can use an electric toothbrush as long as it is one that vibrates.

Yes that's the one I have Helen, I've just given him 1m of it to see how he gets on with it. I'm not sure about the pooping as he's been with his brother, he's not pooped during the time he's been with me appox an hour. I always check poops when I spot clean and all have been fine. Apart from his hay today he's had some some grass, parsley, spring greens, cos lettuce, cucumber, a cherry tomato and a slice of carrot.

Ok, if there are no poos in the next few hours he will need to see a vet. Is he ducking down at all to eat them?

Is he used to having grass?

That is quite a lot of leafy things altogether so it may have given him a bit of gas.

Does he look bloated at all? does his tummy sound hollow if you tap the sides?

Have you actually noticed any signs of bloating like a tight, hard part in the belly or a larger than normal tummy? If in doubt, please take him off any fresh food for a day or two and see a vet if he is in discomfort.

Please be aware that piggies do not poo evenly throughout the day. They eat and then sleep to digest their meal - accordingly they poo a lot at one point and then not or not much at all for the period that corresponds with their digestive sleep. It is unlikley that your boy is going to poo a lot if it is more than 3 hours after his dinner.

Hi, sorry for the late reply my ipad battery went last night.
Thank you for your support, The other two have been fine they had soft tummies yesterday I've never noticed any hardness with discomfort to their tummies at all (and I send a lot of time with them) so I thought my daily spring greens, cucumber and a small amount of cos lettuce was a good veg base then I add a small amount of other things to give them variety, eg I will add some kale, parsley, coriander, tomatoes, green beans, celery etc these are not all given daily just mixer of different things to add to their normal daily veg during the week.
I have noticed fudge seems to get a regular hard swollen belly which soon passes, but yesterday evening he really didn't like being stroked near his sides he was very vocal and jumpy and would not settle he was like it in the morning too but fine in himself and fine the rest of the day, so I kept an eye on him. I didn't think it was bloat a such more like a bit of trapped wind so I thought the gripe water would pop any bubbles and it did (1.5ml in total) :). I sat with him until 1 this morning and settled and pooped around midnight, he's happy running about his hutch this morning. I will bring him in for lap time today while the other two have some veggies. It may just be as you said wiebke part of his digestive system (he hadn't had any fresh veg for about 6 hours by that point). I would honestly take my boys to the vets ASAP if I felt they were needed to go. Yesterday I just felt fudge was struggling a bit more than normal with his gassy tummy so I thought i would give him some gripe water to help him but I was unsure how much.
Is my daily veg ok? Spring greens, cucumber, small amount of cos lettuce.
Thank you. Kell

Wasn't criticising the diet it just sounded a lot of leafy stuff in one go with the grass on top. It could be that he gorged on grass so gave himself some gas. Am so pleased the Gripe water helped and he has poo'd ok. I have couple that get gassy sometimes and the Gripe water is always on standby. Should probably try it myself - may help the IBS :)

Oh no @helen105281 I didn't think were criticising their diet at all Hun honest I only wrote about it to ask if I was ok feeding them that daily.
I brought the grip water after I read your reply about its better than one we use these days for babies. Fudge didn't have a hollow sounding belly thankfully but it was swollen bless him, and that makes sense about the grass as it's been nice so he's had more grass than normal, I checked the other two straight away when I posted this thread but both had soft tummies, fudge seems to have piggy IBS I think :)
I get IBS too Helen it's horrid isn't it :( now that's an idea I think I will give it a try next time my tummy is playing up.
Thank you for your support I'm really grateful. Kell.

It's a nightmare.

It does sound like he has a more sensitive tummy bless him, if he ate more grass that day then it is most likely what caused it.

Thank you Helen, I will be extra careful about the amount fudge is eating from now on. I have always given my boys veg in the morning (mainly because I work in the evenings) but I read many people give their piggies veg In the evening, does it matter when? I have started giving them half the amount of veg am and the other half pm to stop fudge eating too much at once, it's worked as I have hold of him now and his tummy is lovely and soft. It's a easier to judge the amount now that I only have fudge and pip together. Which veggies do you feed your lovely piggies daily Helen.
Thank you. Kell.

I feed AM and PM too. Mine are on a special bladder friendly diet though so they have Coriander, spring greens, cucumber, celery, green beans, pepper and occasional dill. They are all fed in small amounts. They have a large variety of hay though and a few Bunny pellets each in the evening plus their digestive vitamin.
