My Mum and me want to plant up some things the Piggies will like to eat. I know they like Bell Peppers and Tomatoes but Mum says these take ages to grow.

What could we plant that keeps growing throughout the year and we can cut it will still grow? Mum can plant some Romaine lettuce and some herbs and I can cut grass from the lawn for them all year around.

Should we plant some dandelions or anything like that? We've got a couple of little trough planters and space in the green house!

What do you grow for your piggies?

Thank you

One way you can grow food for piggies is planting herbs such as coriander, parsley, fennel, thyme. Lettuce seeds sown in trays are good too as little treats, good luck!
We have two fennel plants which are 4 ft high and come up every year which gives lots of fennel fronds for them to eat, it also smells lovely in their cages temporarily
We forage the hedgerows too for tall grasses, dandelion, vetch and plantains

Tomatoes and bell peppers are summer plants. Bell peppers needing heat to germinate tend to do better in a warm greenhouse. Tomatoes can be grown outdoors in summer.

For indoors during winter you can sow and grow herbs (coriander being one of the main ones given it is safe to feed some daily) and cut and come again lettuce but it will need to be done indoors as it’s not starting to lose warmth for germination now.

Ive taken cuttings from my outdoor mint to keep that going in the greenhouse over winter
