So I have had my male guinea Echo for a few years now but ever since I got him he has be weird about be touching his back. He will jump in the air and then go onto his side and roll over. This stopped for a good bit but now he is flinging his head back and nibbling his back end, just above his hips. When touching him now he is rotating his head and then trying to bit things like the blanket he is sitting on. I am not sure if he is in pain and do have an appointment for after Christmas anyway so will see what he sees then.

Anyone have any idea what on earth is happening to him? He also keeps doing a weird nodding motion with his head too and has a lot of dandruff on his back end.

While It’s normal for guinea pigs to not like being touched in certain areas, Flinging his head back and nibbling sounds like he either has an itch (if it is excessive scratching, then you will need to have him checked for mites) or the area is causing him discomfort. It definitely sounds like he ought to see a vet

One of my boys will wrangle himself into position and clean/nibble his hip area. But :agr: if you’re worried take him to the vet.

You really do need to take your piggy to see a vet to get a proper diagnosis. Biting is a sign of discomfort or pain and I am sure you don't want your piggy to be uncomfortable. I would call your vet and see if they can see him before Christmas.
