Every once in a while my guinea , Mayhem, will start breathing very strangely. It sounds like there it something stuck in his nose cavaties or lungs. It lasted quite a while today so I picked him up to listen to his breathing. He coughed and it was over. Same happy mayhem. This happens probably once every month. I'm thinking he just got a piece of hay stuck in his nose. I'm wondering if his nasal cavities are just abnormally small. My older guinea pig Peach (3 years old) NEVER had this problem. I'm also wondering if this is going to be life long or life threatening. Thank you

I've had one guinea pig that did this alot, it isn't abnormal, it only takes small particles to clog in the nose and you hear sort of groggy or hooting noises until they sneeze it out. My current two never get this problem. All guinea pigs nasal passages are very narrow. Just watch out for uri symptoms, crusty nose, crust around eyes, weight loss and lack of activity👍. But I'm sure everything is OK
