Guinea Pig Barely Eating

What do you mean by "can't" eat from a syringe?

He's not swallowing or he's not interested in eating it himself?

It sounds like he's deteriorating with him having the URI and still not being able to eat solid foods on his own.

Again, we can only really suggest that you go to a more guinea pig knowledgeable vet. If you can,t find one try asking your closest guinea pig rescue to see who they use. He really need someone to look at his teeth properly.

The antibiotics should help him feel better. Remember to give him probiotics 1.5 hours after the med's to stop it harming his stomach.

He needs gut motility drugs from the vet asap- bloat can kill if left untreated

I gave him medicinal coal, however I can't get to any vet now :((

I've hear you can rub him somehow to help him, but I don't know how.

Please I need help can somebody tell me a way to help him massage /exercise?

You can massage his tummy with your fingers to try and shift the gas, or give him gripe water for babies, but this is often not enough on its own.

Is there no way you can get to a vet and ask for gut motility drugs?

Try Googling it, a guide should come up.

When my boar is bloated I rest him in something that vibrates for 10 mins and then give him a break as he doesn't enjoy it at all. I also try to get him to move around to try to disperse the gas.

That only works for mild bloat though, you really need the gut motility drugs to use in combination to home treatment to get him through it.

If he looks like he's getting any worse he really needs to go to the vet asap. I'm sorry that it's awkward (my last pig with bloat happened at 11pm on a Sunday night) but if they need the emergency vet then they need to go.

It's too late. Thanks for helping me. I think he was just old (~5 years). I did all my best guys, I got to the point of waking up in the night twice. I traveled with my father 200km away from my home just to see a vet. By staying at home I gave them natural food in their entire life. What I regret the most is that I wasn't interacting with them enough, because I am a PC gamer, I know, that's shameful and now I can't fix that. I should have realized their time was soon. Honestly I find losing an animal so painful that even the joy it brought for his entire life is not compensating, so, from now on, I think I won't own a pet anymore. Please don't judge me.

Has he died?

We are really sorry to hear this but we've been following your thread and you have done your absolute best with the resources available to you. No one will judge you and it will help your healing and grieving process to write a tribute to your piggy in the rainbow bridge section. Most members on here have suffered the loss of a piggy and we always ask ourselves if we could have done more. Rest in peace little one x

No on hear will judge you, you tied all you could. We are lucky in the UK to have a good standard of veterinary care.
I am really sorry for your loss.

Sleep well little one

I'm so sorry for your loss. You did your best with what you had available.

I'm so sorry you lost him.As others have said, you did your best under very difficult circumstances. No one can judge you for that.xx

I've just caught up on this thread. I'm so sorry to hear he didn't make it. I lost my beautiful boy to bloat back in May too (after surgery) and it's horrific. Big hugs to you and popcorn free little piggy x
