hi there,

i am just wondering how you bath a guinea pig and at what age should i give ronald a bath he is 12 weeks old and i think this might be a bit to young but then i thought is it good to bath them young so they are used to it, i read that you only need to bath them once or twice a year and i was wondering how offten you guys bath your guineas?, and i would also like to know how much water to put them in, what type of shampoo if i have to use it, etc...

i am sorry that is a lot to ask for but i think it would be best hearing it from people i trust :)
 
I put about two inches of water in a basin like the ones you do you dishes in( i bought one just for the piggys) and make sure its warm but not too hot, i also keep a jug of fresh warm water for rinsing there shampoo of. Make sure you keep the water well away from there ears and face! I just put a small blob of shampoo in my hand and lather it up and rub it all over the piggys coat massaging it in gently, i also make sure there bums are clean by gently rubbing that aswell because i allwas cheack befor i put them in the bath if they are sticky and matted because of pee and sutch lol. give them a good rinse and dry them with a clean towl, some people use a hair dryer but my girls dont like it so i let them run about for a while and clean there cage out. I dont know what age is sutable to bath a piggy but i should think it should be ok as long as the water isnt deep for your baby i would make sure the water covers there feet and touches there belly you know what i mean ? I would double cheak. i bath my piggyss every three / four months for hygen reason and because they start to smell again after that. iam using johnsons small animal shampoo because it was the only one they had in my local pet shop but to really spoil them i would order shapoo from http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/ most people on here say there stuff amazing so i would order some because iam going to one my johnsons stuffs done because i dont like waste lol hope this helps double cheak xxashxx
 
just looked on the goreous guinea sight and they have a shampoo espeically for piggys under 12 weeks ! x
