Guinea pig breathing

The veterinary textbooks say 42-104 breaths per min, but there is obviously a bit of a variation in that.

They will usually breathe much faster when stressed or startled. Any breathing which also uses there abdominal muscles and looks like a lot of effort is not normal regardless of the rate of breaths.

Guinea pig's respiratory rate (breaths per minute) should be 90-150.
If you're measuring respiration only count on breaths in or out not both.
Guinea pig's pulse rate (beats per minute) should be 130-190.
You can probably feel the pulse easiest on the inside of a back leg (thigh region).

Hope this helps :)
