I have 2 adult males that have lived together just fine but all of a sudden they've started chattering and rumbling at each other. I kept an eye on them and couldnt see any signs of fighting but noticed this afternoon one of them wasn't putting weight on his back paw. I checked and it looks as though my other pig has bitten him. How can I treat the wound and what should I do about them?

My piggies did the same thing, but they didn't bite each other. To treat the wound you should get some bandages, and some special alchohol. (Guinea pig safe, of course!) It mostly depends how deep the wound is. If it isn't too deep, you can treat it with soap and water, and wrap some guinea pig-safe bandages, and wrap the paw in that. If it is too deep that the bandage can't hold all of the blood, call or see your vet immediately. As for your piggies; if they are biting and drawing blood, separate them. Then slowly try to warm them up to each other. Get them out for floor time, and try to distract them, or let them sniff each other. If all goes well, they should be good!

If he is not putting any weight on it, it must be painfull. Get him to the vets for a check up. Piggy bites can get infected very quickly and form abscesses. Please don't try to treat his foot wound by yourself until he has seen a vet to determine how severe the wound is. He may need medication.

If they have been fighting and have drawn blood, they need spitting, as it will only happen again. I will tag @Wiebke who will be able to advise more on this.
For small wounds I use Leucillin which can be used to flush the wound, and keep it clean. Anything deep need a vets attention. I got bitten and guinea teeth are very sharp, it bleed profusely for well over half an hour, and a tetanus injection was required.

As it is clearly very painful (and likely to be deep), please separate your boys and see a vet for painkillers and a possible infection.
You can always make a mild disinfectant at home by stirring 1 teaspoon of salt into 1 pint of boiled cooled water for minor surface wounds, but any deep bites (whether on you or a piggy) need to be properly seen and treated.

Hi guys. Just thought I'd let you know that Toffys foot is fine. I cleaned it with a salt solution and it scabbed over pretty quick. I did desperate them though.
