Apologies for yet another question about piggies diet. I want to make sure my guinea pigs do not get bladder stones or bloat...or any scary illness.

I give my guineas celery at least 2 times a week but never the full stick I usually cut it up into small chunks and give them 2-4 bits each. I am cautious that celery is high in calcium and am slightly worried if I should cut it out all together or if its safe in tiny amounts?

They get romaine lettuce quite a bit but I rinse one leaf and split it into two meals.

They get sweet peppers 2-3 times a week usually 5-7 small pieces each.

I usally would give them a bit of fruit and then they get 5-7 slices of carrot every Sunday but I think that's too much sugar for them so I won't be giving fruit as often as I have been 🫣 hoping I didn't cause any problems.

I've had guinea pigs before with a poor diet and they were mostly fed kale which stunk out the cage and eventually gave one of them bloat. I wasn't educated before and really want to take care of my two now and make sure I am not causing them any pain with their diet.

This guide has a picture of a plate which shows the amount which can be fed each day. Do note that the celery is a variation and should not be fed daily. Mine never get celery but that’s because it isn’t something I buy for us.

Long Term Balanced General And Special Needs Guinea Pig Diets

Every day mine have lettuce, pepper, cucumber and coriander. I hardly ever feed pellets though so I do feed a bit more than one cup of veg to each pig per day.
They get fruit once in the summer and carrot at Christmas and that’s it for sweet items.

Yes, I don't think I'll feed them celery anymore bit what can I give them instead? I thought too much cucumber caused diarrhea? And coriander was high in calcium?

You don’t need to anything instead but any safe veg can be given in moderation and rotation.

Coriander is a touch higher in calcium but it (and other herbs) also provides trace minerals and nutrients making is beneficial for them.

Cucumber only causes diarrhoea if you suddenly give far too much.

You will find most of us give those four veggies daily (lettuce, cucumber, coriander and pepper) and don’t necessarily give anything else.
