Guinea pig eating non edible items?

I was moving my piggies cage before and one of my earrings fell into his cage. I didn't notice till I came back to check on him before I went to bed and (it was a studded earring) the metal bit that goes in your eye has come off. I can't tell if he's eaten it (is it possible for them to eat it at all?) or if its fallen off when it dropped and bounced out of the cage and I've swept it up when I swept the floor!
Could a Guinea pig chew through the metal part of it as it's all gone so I doubt it would of gone down as whole?
He is still eating as I write this so I'm hoping he hasn't eaten it?

That is worrying, hopefully he hasn't ate it. Have you checked the entire cae and done a clean out. Is the metal bit sharp?

Chances are he’ll be fine but I would keep a close eye on him and take him to the vets if he stops pooing, eating etc

Update: he is still eating weeing pooping and drinking fine! Yes I cleaned the cage that night I think it must have bounced out or I missed it cleaning
