My guinea pig had what I believe to be an upper respiratory infection passed on from his brother. So, I took him to the vet They started him on his own round of antibiotics (SM-TMZ), Metcam and Ofloxacin eye drops, this was on last Tuesday. By Thursday, his eyes began to bulge, eating and drinking, began to slow down so immediately took action and began to syringe feed. Eating on his own and bowel movements returned, and he seemed to be improving. But, I just don’t know why his eyes are continuing to not improve. This was not an issue prior to me getting to giving him the medication. His eyes went from bulging to being read and cloudy. I have called over 5 vets. Most of them want money I dont have and I dont Know what to do.

***trying to post pics but it won’t let me or I dont See the option***

I’m sorry to hear this.

As a new member the option to add pictures is not yet available to you but it should be shortly.

Even with pictures I’m afraid we can’t diagnose anything nor tell you how to treat it. Anything to do with eyes is considered urgent and always needs a vet to check it out.

We can only advise on home care of daily weight checks and continuing to syringe feed enough to keep his weight stable each day.
