Hey everyone,

One of my guinea pigs (Camella), seems to have injured her eye yesterday. About half of her eye is cloudy and a little red in one corner. Cammy has also been squinting her eye a little bit since yesterday.
I want to take her to the vet, but my mom keeps insisting that try using polysporin eye drops on her. She read on the internet that you can use that stuff on a guinea pig with eye problems, but the sources seem questionable. Have any of you guys heard about this at home treatment? Should I bring her to the vet ASAP?

Thanks everyone! xx>>>

It's best to take her to the vet. You can't always trust or believe what you read online and I'm sure you'd hate to home treat and for it to make her worse. Please take her to the vet as soon as poss :)

Hiya think I would just take her to the vets, eyes need quick treatment as it doesn't take long to get infection in them & also from personal experience eye injuries can be painful... I have in the past used boiled &cooled water with just a pinch of salt dissolved in it just to bathe the eye, until they could be seen at the earliest opportunity by a vet. Hope she soon recovers :) healing vibes &fingers &paws all crossed for * both. Xx

Please don't delay, the sooner it is treated hopefully the sooner it will heal.
Unfortunately I have experienced a guinea with a poorly eye recently and despite our best efforts she still lost the eye which has resulted in a LARGE vets bill.
So my advice is get it seen asap.
