Guinea Pig Has Bad Teeth Need Help!

Hi I have a male guinea pig who is a year old, last month he started to have a wet chin from drooling. I took him to my vet and he told me the back teeth at the bottom were growing towards the tounge and it was gentic. He filled them down to make the much much comfortable for him but a month later the same thing has happened again, is there anyway to fix this problem? I don't want to take him back every month and put him through this pain, and the vet also told me his life would be very short because of this. Please help!

Tagging @furryfriends Excellent Adventure Sanctuary who will be able to help you. Is there any way you can get him to Northampton? Simon Maddock at the Cat & Rabbit clinic is probably the best piggy dental vet & may be able to look at his teeth without using anaesthetic

We have a number of permanent residents here at the Sanctuary who have ongoing dental issues, and they just go for regular filing of their teeth, which my vet is able to do without the need for GA. They all continue to live a normal life span and can eat completely well as long as they get the regular treatment.

I do offer temporary places to enable piggies who don't live locally to be seen by Simon, and that may be something you would like to consider. I make no charge for boarding and their supportive care and just ask that you pay the veterinary charges directly to Cat and Rabbit Clinic, over the phone, after the guinea pig has received treatment. Any donations to the Sanctuary are always very welcome but not expected.
