My guinea pig Peanut Butter has been eating, playing and acting normal. Until two days ago when we noticed a hairless red scabby spot. He is still very young and we got him at a pet store. We researched and found that it may be mites or fungus, but we aren't sure. Help? I attached a photo, it's on his inner back leg, near his belly and private area.

Ps: he doesn't live with any other guinea pigs and his cage is pretty clean.

I have a young Guinea pig and recently (2 days ago) I realized a big red scabby spot on his back leg near his belly. I think that it may be ringworm, mites, or a fungal infection. Help? He doesn't live with any other guinea pigs and his cage is clean. Should I take him to a vet? Is it urgent? Photos included, please reply.

No matter which it is, he'll still need a vet appointment to get the correct medication to treat it.

Be sure to use good hygiene practice, such as washing your hands thoroughly and not handling other pigs wearing the same clothes as it could be contagious, to pigs and humans depending on what it is.

Firstly welcome to the Forum.

I agree with @Jaycey - he really needs to see a vet to have it confirmed.
It can be very difficult to diagnose skin conditions correctly and you will need medication from the vet to treat it properly.
In t meantime do not try to treat it at home as this can make it harder for the vet to get a clear picture of the problem.

If you have no had your guinea pig for long then the pet store may cover any vets bill if it looks like your piggy already had the problem when you bought him.
Good luck with it.

Please see a vet. it is impossible to tell from your picture.
