My guinea pig pumpkin hasn't been eating her hay. I wanted to ask if I'm giving her the right diet. I give her Orchards hay or timothy hay, she eats oxbow pellets and in the afternoon I give her some carrots(occasionally like every other day), romaine, bell peppers and some time cilantro. She gets one pea flake in the morning as well. She is probably a year and a half and full grown.

if she has suddenly stopped eating hay, then please see a vet.

Hay needs to be the biggest part of the diet.
they can have 50g of veg per day. Carrots should not be fed more than one small amount once per week only (giving carrot every other day is too much), as they are too high in sugar.
pellets should be just one tablespoon per pig per day.

hay is essential for gut and dental health. if your piggy is not eating hay, then you need to switch from weekly weighing to weighing her every day. Hay makes up the biggest proportion of the daily food intake but you can’t judge intake by eye. If she is losing weight due to not eating enough hay then you need to step in and syringe feed her (the fibre in this will replace the hay she is not eating), and see a vet.

a piggy who isn’t eating hay is at risk of the teeth overgrowing due to not having the constant abrasive action of hay.

if your piggy has stopped eating hay, its best to go to a vet ASAP. There is a chance that your piggy may be experiencing an illness that means they have lost their appetite. Otherwise, there is a chance that they dislike the hay your feeding them. Maybe check the quality of the hay. Is it dusty? Does it smell bad?

Maybe add some forage to the hay that your piggies like. It will entice them to eat the hay, in order to get the forage.
