My sisters kitten somehow got hold of one of my little guinea pigs which is about 10 weeks old. No bites or anything, she carried it into the house. I was at work while this was all done. My mum was the one who spotted it. Clementine (her name) went into shock I'm pretty sure. Her head is tilt back and she isn't mobile. She's alert though. We brought her indoors and now she's sleeping next to a hot water bottle wrapped with a towel. I've brought one of her cage mates in to sleep with her and she's in dark lighting.

What do I do? I have the option to take her to the vet around the road from my house but I'm unsure whether it's a 24/hr one. Is there anything else I can do?!

Poor you! what a shock! Please make sure that no cats can't get at your guinea pigs ever again and secure their hutch and run accordingly.

You are doing all the right things.

Please ring your clinic to see whether they are open and what they recommend. There may be internal injuries.

Otherwise leave your girl in peace to recover if that is possible. Piggies can unfortunately die from shock.

Thank you. I don't know anything about shock as I've never been put in a situation like this. The doors to the hutch were open as I allow them to free-range in an enclosed area. The cat shouldn't have been outside! I've closed the doors to the hutch and secured everything off. The other two are still inside but much older than the babies.

Unfortunately poor Clementine passed away in my arms :( So devastating. I don't think I will buy guinea pigs again. Too much heart break for me.

I am very sorry! Poor girl!

It is not a good idea to keep prey animals and predators in the same household if you cannot guarantee that any prey animals are safe at all times. :(
