Guinea Pig Lover.. here!

As most people know i really want guinea pigs..And trying to be responsible by always coming on here and finding out about them before getting some (hopefully from a rescue) Soo I am hoping to get some money now
There is a lot of things to consider like when i go to uni and when i go on holiday
But my mum loves animals and loves looking after the animals (and she adores the chinchillas and the sound of guinea pigs) and she has agreed to looking after the chinnies when i go to uni (or IF i go away to uni or whatever)
Also one of my best friends has guinea pigs or if not my godmother and her husband love all animals and they would probably be happy to look after both the chinnies and guineas (but i would have to double check first..)
Also i would use fleece and newspaper as bedding so £0 a month for that (and the chinchillas use newspaper so £0 a month for that as well) and my gran has unlimited amounts of newspaper she is giving to the chinnies! My chinnie food is expensive (£7.99 a bag which last them about 2 months) but its the only food they like fussy chinnies... also i have a huge folder about guinea pigs which i am transfering to an even bigger folder becuase its getting too big.. Also i have about £200 for my chinnies vet bills and the money is growing (in case anything happens.. My dad said dont bother but i say i should!)
I did try getting £100 then asking but they said that wouldn't be enough and that they would still have to pay for toys and food etc
Soo i am trying to get £400
Shouldn't be hard.. My birthday is coming up and all i am asking for is money. .Then IF they agree to getting a guinea pig i will still have to try and get money by helping around the house.
I find it unlikely they will but still worth trying

You sound really responsible about it so hope you can get some soon :smitten: Don't pester them too much, just show them you're responsible and you know a lot about them ;) Also printing out pictures of gorgeous piggies helped me with my parents :)

Would your parents pay for vet bills if the piggies were ill or would you need to pay? Just curious, that's all. I have money saved up for piggy and hammy vet bills but my parents pay them anyway - I like to have it though just incase one day they decide they don't want to pay :-\

Piggies are not really that expensive, well not if you only have a pair anyway. Once you've paid for the supplies for the cage, toys etc, then all you need to pay for is hay (which I know you have anyway because of your chinnies but you'd get through it quicker of course), dry food and veggies...also vet bills if needed and stuff like shampoo etc. but that's not really that expensive.

Do your parents want piggies? Just curious why they are saying no? ;)

Anyway good luck, best thing is to be really responsible about it..worked for me, and here I am a year into having my pigglyfluffs :smitten:

lol coolios! Hope you don't think I was like....I dunno, lol was just curious.

Shampoo lasts for agggggggggges lol. Get a bottle from gorgeous guineas and it will last for ages :)

I think yoiu are a total sweetie and are showing how responsible you are...it is only a matter of time before you can get some - whether at home, or maybe when you move out, but keep collecting knowledge, and your piggies will have an amazing piggy mum :smitten:

You surely are very organized and are thinking straight O0 something i didnt do ::) I never researched before i got my piggies as i didnt think there wasnt anything to know except for they eat poo and clean them out (My first 3 were given to me 1 was a sow which i didnt know and byt the time i knew it she had a baby but she was still in with the 2 boars :-\ as i didnt know they could catch straight away but when she had her baby i took her out obviously but she got fat again so i knew ;) That was the vets fault as i paid for them to be sexed

anyway ;D you have sone the right thing by coming here and learning soo much about guinea pigs before you even get them, i wanted to learn more about these very talkable guinea pigs and i have learnt LOADS 0:)

Good Luck in getting some guinea pigs and I'm sure youll be a brilliant piggy mummy :smitten:
