For those of you that read this magazine you will know which article I mean! Both this one and last months were just so moving but reduce me to flowing tears! :( she is such a strong lady to stay with her piggies throughout their final moments and it is in a way quite comforting to know what the last stages look like...but at the same time it is quite terrifying! When I lost my hamster Reginald I had to see him going through the agonal breathing stage and it is quite distressing to watch, but it's good knowing that at this stage they are normally unconscious and do not know what's happening. I similarly could not hold him when he was like this through my own fear and upset and sometimes I wish I could have been stronger for him. He was comfy in his bed though and my OH kept an eye on him for me until he passed.

Anyhow, just needed to post this as i've just read her latest article and i'm sat here in tears! rolleyes I'm sure it has made lots of you cry too!

I was actually quite uncomfortable reading them - especially where the guinea pig took hours to die. I couldn't have left it that long but would have gone to a vets.

In my experience none of my guinea pigs who have died have taken hours to die. It's always been very fast and I've never noticed leg pedalling or anything like that.

Its so depressing! but in a way reassuring becasue at least you know what to expect and whats normal when they pass. Its sad :(
