I am a 6'6" 300lb father of two boys. A blue collar southern USA "redneck".My wife and I got the pigs for them, but I ended up being pulled in by the piggies charisma. I talk about them at work, baby talk them, give in to their squeaking, etc. In other words for being a tough guy I am a sucker for my rodent girls. Which leads me to my point/ question. Am I alone(Men)? I do the YouTube/ internet thing on piggies, and find myself watching Ladies/ young ladies and their piggies, especially from the UK. Maybe the hooligans, and roughnecks keep the piggies on the DL.

I'm with you 👍. I'm a 31 year old man from uk. Van driver building site type person. I love my pigs haha 👊 i keep them on the D/L at work because people are just not interested enough to talk to them about. They are all dog cat people. Nothing wrong with that. I like all animals.

The problem with people, is that they think guinea pigs and other small pets, just live in a tiny cage alone and dont do anything. But they couldn't be more wrong. They have to be ONE of the most overlooked animals there is

I think @BossHogg @sport_billy & piggy daddy @PigglePuggle, @helen105281 's Ross, @david piggie lover, @Tim might be able to join you in your hunt for masculine Guinea parents :D
@SkyPipDotBernie already answered :)
(there are more I'm having a mental block tho)
I think one of the most attractive things about a man is, that they can show their softer side of being caring & protective to a vulnerable, defenceless beings such as Guinea's. This for me screams masculinity & a wonderful person
(I'm not a fan of football, fast cars, brand names &employment titles - which stereotypically are often male orientated traits).

Scotty has quite a few YouTube clips, big ol' bearded guy :D
Guinea pig daddy too!

I'm probably being dim but what's 'on the DL'?

Welcome to the forum & congratulations on your new girls, I think we're all 'little squeaker suckers' on here so I think you'll fit in nicely ;)
.. Ps we love piggy pigtures on here too :tu: hint hints :)

I believe it's "down low" I'm a hairy arsed motorway traffic officer, used to seeing carnage and sights you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy! My piggies are my therapy to help me unwind after a harrowing duty.

See... proves my point, you're a 'Real man' ... Helping others & caring in your day job, going home & relaxing by caring for the piggies :)
... But you still know if & when to use the 'ban hammer' ;)
... Urm hairy arse I can't comment on either... I'm sure your's & Lee's fundraising thread only showed the front view (phew!.. blushing ;) )

Ohhhh Down Low... I get it now - thankyou x

Well now I know I am not alone. I never thought of them as therapeutic. After a hot day on the railroad, Cub scouts, baseball, getting boys to bed, I do enjoy my pig time before bed. Kinda like a furry, squeaky tranquilizer. Then at 0530 when I sleepily go down the hall , furry, squeaky caffeine saying feed and pet me!

I accidentally brushed into a bag of hay at stupid o'clock one morning and I did have to wonder if I was ever going to be allowed to sleep again

The piggies were originally mine, but the man of the house loves them just as much as I do and looks after them too. We started with 2 and ended up with 6, the extra 4 are really down to him. He'd never met a guinea pig before he met me and didn't realise what strong indiviual characters they have.

I agree that it is entirely manly to dote on one's children and pets. Protecting and caring for those weaker than ourselves is what men do. Besides, piggies are a lot of fun. It's also cool to hear from someone in the southern U.S., though I will readily admit that the north suburbs of Atlanta are not at all "the South".

My hubbs is a proud piggie daddy to our girls! Like me hes nuts about them... but people do overlook piggie wiggies... its all cats and dogs! Love all animals but piggies are the best! Warm piggie sqeaks to you. 😆🤗

I think your heart is bigger than your physical size. :tu:. I want to sing "He is a Jolly Good Fellow" song right now for some reason,:xd:.

I can relate. I also dote on my piggies and would do just about anything for them.

Back when I first had guinea pigs my parents were not happy, my dad particularly so lol. One day, they decided to let the pigs into the garden (I was out and it was a very nice day) but they didn't actually supervise garden time so of course we had an escapee. Who went searching through half the gardens in the street to find one very sprightly little guinea pig?
I mean, he claims it was just so I didn't murder all the humans involved in said escapade, but... :))

my 18 year grd son has his two piggies under his bedroom window(ground floor), found him many times with both on his bed,he climbs out his window to bring them in!
