I am a new member, sorry for the long post.

My 9 month old American Guinea (Mr. Pink Ear) developed what I and his vet thought was bumble foot. On 11/1/19 he had one of his toes removed on his front foot. A week later his leg turned blue, was lifeless and they removed his leg. He was having having trouble eating, I syringe feed him Critical Care. Last Friday, we introduced him to his cage mate (his vet tech had recommended keeping them divided x 1 week. We reintroduced them, not even 30 minutes later they had a fight and Mr. Pink Ear had to laceration to his ear. I took him to the emergency vet and they applied internal sutures and Dermabond. Yesterday he saw his regular vet, had his sutures removed (from leg amputation) and was given a "clean bill of health". Today I arrived home from work and lifted up his "igloo" up and knew immediately he was dying. There was a huge poop and I could tell he was basically lifeless. I immediately called his vet whom advised me to bring him ASAP; its a 15 minute drive and he died in my arms on the way to the vet. I became absolutely in love with him, feeding him/giving him his medicine. He was given Reglan about 1 week ago, he was dong very well, now eating on his own...poops were normal. I just don't understand what happened . I am a nurse and always want to "know why"?

I’m so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately sometimes we won’t know why when it comes to guinea pigs. You did the best you could for him, remember that. Take care of yourself ❣️
