I feed my guinea pigs hay, veggies and Timothy based pellets. We just got a new baby guinea pig. I noticed that some of the pellets say “for adult guinea pigs”. What is the difference? What pellets are good for both? The baby is now with the adults and I want to make sure they are all getting what they need!

You can feed normal adult pellets to all your piggies, the baby included. The difference is that the baby pellets contain higher concentrations of nutrients and will also contain alfalfa. Alfalfa is not suitable for adult piggies so you won't want your adult piggies eating baby pellets. However, by the time babies are weaned (3 weeks of age) they are eating a normal adult diet anyway.

When Velvet (RIP) had her babies (shop pregnancy) I didn't feed them any different pellets. All 3 of them grew up to be happy and very healthy piggies.

Our boys also had adult pellets from the day they were born. We currently use the Science Selective Grain Free and Versele Laga Cavia Complete. We won’t be getting the SS again though because I read from a few members on here that they’ve experienced bladder issues with those. And with Pew‘s sensitive bladder we don’t want to risk anything :)
