Hello,
I was taking my guinea pig Flower to the vet for her sneezes. Noticed a bit of poop on Dixies paw, I never thought nothing of it normally they wash it off themselves and/or I clean it off. Got back from the vets put Flower back. Dixie claw was still black, so decided to clean it with having more time. She squeaked wouldnt let me touch it. I'v booked in for an appointment tomorrow at the vet, shes limping and feel so bad for her not sorting it out sooner, was going to take her with me to the vet with Flower but didn't want to add any unnecessary stress. This happened to anyone before?
Thank you,
Haylez

Is she limping? Dried poo I would have thought wouldn't have caused that, so just take care.

We had a special needs piggy that always had dried poo on her feet... We used to have to soak her foot in a tupperware or bowl of warm water. It only needs to be high enough to cover paws no higher. After a 2 min soak it should be loose enough to carefully remove without pulling at the nail. When poo is dry it can be hard and painful to remove so soaking allows you to remove it much easily

Yeah she's limping, won't put pressure on it. My mum wiped her paw a bit and little bit of poop was on the wipe. Be nice to get some off will try soaking it

Sounds she has a poorly paw then, please get this checked out at the vets tomorrow, the poo won't be causing it. Let us know how they both get on.

Hmmm... I've had to soak a foot a couple of time to get dried poop off, but have never had one act like their paw was sore because of it. It's good that the vet is checking it out. Are you sure it's dried poop and not dried blood? Once one of mine tore a nail off and it bled significantly and could have looked like poop if it had dried there.

Just got back from the vets. Last night I did soak her paws in the bath, she wouldn't get out of the bath! I did figure maybe it was dry blood instead cause I couldn't think why it could have been poop as they stood in it before and never caused problems. Vet said it's the nail, she either broken it or something got lodged in there, I'd say she broken it as it's a bit short. She's has two injection for pain relief and was told to leave her for few days she's a bit grumpy at the moment. Flower tried to groom her and Dixie head butted her off. They are both okay, Flower has a bit of URI as she's still sneezing she's got medication for that. My two little patients.

Thank you for the update hope Flower and Dixie both get better soon.
