Hi all,

I didn't know whether to put this in the Rescue section or this one so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong place.

Does anyone know of any guinea-pig rescues in south Lincs? I can't find any near me, just mixed animal ones, but I need a guinea-pig specific one.

Thanks.

Sorry, I have no idea - what do you need the rescue for, are you thinking of getting some more pigs or giving yours up? Or none of the above!?

Oh, that is really sad news, I'm sorry I can't help as I don't know any rescues in your area.

I'm in the same sort of area but haven't heard of any rescues here. Maybe a piggy train could be sorted out to a rescue somewhere?

Peterborough would be the furthest south I could go, Kings Lynn furthest east, idk about west as I don't go anywhere over that side of me apart from Spalding/Bourne, and then Skegness furthest north.

I'm meeting someone in Boston on Saturday to pick up the two rats I got my ex. She doesn't want anything to do with me now so I've had to contact a rescue for them as I obviously wasn't planning to keep them.

I'm not planning to re-home all my pigs, Jasper will be staying, at least.

If you want to know my reasons, my dad has made sure I never get back that feeling I did as a child, growing up enjoying keeping these animals. His shallow, selfish and manipulative comments and 'rules' are too much to bare now.

Just makes me feel sick to my stomach thinking I have to do this but I can't cope anymore and I have to do what's right for them.

I'm so sorry you have to find a new home for your guinea-pigs, it must be very difficult :( Sorry, I don't know of any rescues near you, but as BellasMummy said, a piggy train could be organized to get them to a rescue?

Maybe, I'd have just liked to see where they'd be going for the time being. Otherwise I would re-home myself, knowing their new owner would keep in contact with me, as I know many rescues don't allow that info being passed back to the previous owner.

I know how rescues work and know exactly what home I'd want for them, they couldn't go to just anyone. I'm too protective over them. I know their quirks, likes and dislikes, I'd need to make sure everything was just so and their new owner appreciated that.

Could you not get a place of your own? its not just about your pigs, its about you too. Being made to feel bad about yourself is not healthy at all, it might be better if you made yourself a fresh start.

I would if I could live on my own. Mentally, I'm not able to because I panic if I'm alone for too long in the house, even in the day.

I know it's not healthy for me but I don't care anymore. I'd rather have them somewhere else than be worried about having them in- case he says something. He's made me feel like this towards them for so long, having to keep them outside, not being able to bring them in in my arms without getting a tut or a heavy sigh of annoyance from him.

Willow's Rescue is in Panton, near Market Rasen. Not sure if this is too far for you but Lisa is lovely and she might know of something closer if you contacted her.

She rehomes for the RSPCA but I have seen her set up as she is a trained rodentologist and all the piggies looked very happy xx

I looked at that website earlier and it is a bit far but I could contact her tomorrow for a chat about it. Thanks for the link.
