Guinea Pig Seizure/ Vomit

I woke up this morning and my guinea pig was laying stomach down, his front legs were twitching rapidly, as well as his head. We wrapped him in a towel and held him. He would break out in fits. Then we saw that there was something stuck in his throat and picked that out with tweezers. It was green and looked like half digested food. We got out all that we could. Now he is lying in his cage, not moving, but occasionally working his jaw and opening his mouth. I there anything I can do for him!

Please have him seen by an out-of-hours vet ASAP as a life and death emergency!

Guinea pigs don't vomit. It sounds like your guinea pig cannot swallow for some reason and that it may already have gone into organ failure or have had a stroke.

Keep it as comfy and warm (but not hot) as you can. If you have snugglesafes, heat them in the microwave for half the recommended maximum time.
 
Oh dear please get to a vet, this sounds very much how my girl was a few weeks back but unfortunately she passed before I even got through on the phone to the emergency vet (and she had been very ill so I was contacting to pts as I knew she wouldn't make it.

As far as I'm aware guinea pigs can't vomit so that may mean there's a blockage or something stuck in its throat?

No, they can't vomit unfortunately. You're correct in thinking it's a blockage or something stuck in their throat. I've only experienced what looked like a pig vomiting once. The poor guy had torsion (a twisted stomach) which was brought on by a blockage caused by bloat. The only thing to do in that case was to rush him to the vet to be PTS. To this day I have no idea what caused it, and he was fine when I went to bed (he was PTS at about 2am).

Thank you all for your help and support! Unfortunately my little piggy passed away shortly after I got him to the vet
