Do you guinea pigs have a sensitive sense of smell? I feed graas halfway through the day. They can be asleep and within 2 seconds they come alive. They love the grass!

Believe me, their smell is very good and hearing for that matter, my lot are out back and they can hear me come in through the front door.

They have the most incredible sense of smell. Mine can smell me eating an apple upstairs (they are downstairs) and start hollering for a share of it.

I'd swear they can hear a hay bag rustling of a piece of veg being chopped in a 300mil radius. I'd also swear they can see thru walls because just when you think you've gotten away with making yourself a salad they start wheeking the moment you pick up that fork!

Mine seem to have an impressive sense of smell and hearing when it comes to food. They can hear a fridge door open from miles away! LOL!

Mine wheek at me when I put the cover down on the hutch as they obviously think it sounds like a bag rustling (it doesn't) they are forever hopeful!

Mine live in mmg bedroom so they havvent associated their food with the refrigerator yet. That will come in the upcoming months tho as they will be moving into their new bigger cage in my living room

I'm sure they do have a good sense of smell but mine seem to react more to sound. I can walk through their room with a half eaten apple and get away with it but if I bite it (and therefore make a crunching sound) I have to run for cover :xd:
