Guinea Pig Shampoo

Hi all. I’m going to have to give Pepper a bum bath. He has a really greasy patch around his grease glad. It goes a quarter of the way up his back! All his hair is stuck together and very firm. I have tried coconut oil which has made some difference but he still needs a wash I think.

So my question is, can I use baby shampoo or is it better to buy shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas? They have a “Just for Boars” shampoo.

Also should I wash Percy too so they both smell the same?

I would use the shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas. I think even baby shampoo can be a bit drying for sensitive piggy skin.

I personally wouldn't wash Percy too - I think the idea of buddy baths has been shown not to be a good idea, but I am not an expert, so someone else will have more of an idea about that I am sure.
If you are worried then a damp flannel using the same bathwater as Pepper and gently wiped over the back end of Percy might help?

I was recommended Gorgeous Guineas shampoo for Priscilla.
It’s lovely.
I was tempted to use it myself

Gorgeous Guineas shampoo is very good- rainbow bridge Jezzy used to use Posh'n'Go shampoo and their Perfect Paws foot balm on her crusty old swollen feet... and Luna uses their manuka honey shampoo now, Theo got very confused after Luna used Posh'n'Go because she smelled like Jezzy and Theo thought there was a floofy ghost... so we have a different one for Luna just to avoid confusing a lovable daft little boar lol
All the Gorgeous Guineas products are excellent and very mild on the skin even for crusty old floofs who need weekly bum baths and pedicures!

All ordered. I got them the shampoo and paw lotion too. I’ll just use it once a week to keep their feet in tip top condition. Pepper has very dry feet. I have taken him to the vets about it.
