Junior Guinea Pig
I just became aware that guinea pigs have shows just like dogs do! I am so delighted to hear of this. Has anyone ever entered rheir piggie or gone to one?

In Austria, shows are mostly for breeders.
I always feel that they are a lot of stress for the animals. But yes, I have been to a few shows where guinea pigs were shown.

Yep, same with UK and US. Shows are about breeding perfection in looks for the sole benefit of the humans and not in the interests of the piggies concerned. As a forum we do not support the showing of guinea pigs or the intentional breeding of them.
The only caveat to that is our support of one of our recommended UK rescues who hold a regular family fun day but their guinea pig shows generally include just fun criteria such as "fastest eater" and is not linked to breeding and the associated health problems that comes with qualifying criteria
