i'm new to owning guiena pigs and although i have done lots of research i'm finding i'm still lacking in knowledge, so if i say something silly, please excuse me:red

one of my piggies has been sneezing alot, and it sounds like a congested sneeze. this has been going on for over a week now and i took him to the vets a week ago and was given a course of baytril antibiotics for him as she said although their chest was clear and sounded healthy she could see a little nose discharge on ollie (the one who sneezes bad).

their treatment is over now but he's still sneezing :( although the nose discharge seems much better. should i take him back to the vets? or could it simply be an irritation from sawdust or something? or could it be normal- and it's just me being paranoid because i'm new ::red they seem very happy and healthy other wise- eating and drinking and running lots! please help!

many thanks

hi
Piggies shouldnt be on sawdust, it does cause problems..

I also have a piggie that sneezes. he had a viral infection, which he was treated for, and still sneezes. There is a sticky about guinea pig hayfever i think, you may want to check out.

I would remove sawdust though

they have a fleece floor, sawdust is only in a very small area where they wee. although i'm going to remove it and try carefresh or something. thank you :) and the hayfeaver post was also useful
