I'm looking for a really experienced vet with guinea pigs near Walsall, although I am willing to travel anywhere. I am not talking about routine things but more specialist guinea pig problems/operations.

Haven't used them personally - but the info on their web site looks promising

Just to say, this was the practice that I took my Hendrix (formerly Kumar, Vix,) to with a tummy upset last week, and I wasn't very impressed.

I registered with them because the website says they have a specialist exotics vet but when I phoned for an appointment with her apparently she doesn't work there any more.

I did ask to see the replacement exotics vet, but the vet I saw didn't seem to have much knowledge of piggies- I feel I got much better advice from this forum than from him. I don't believe the vet I saw was an exotics vet and I'm not sure they have one any more.

I'm still searching for a cavy savvy vet in the area too :(

Oooh, Manor Vets are the vets I use for my cats and dog.....not had to use them for the piggies yet, thankfully.

I'd be interested to hear of experiences people have had with the 'exotics' vet and their guinea pigs....good or bad! Just in case I ever need to see a vet for my boys.

we have just found a fantastic vet who does concious dentals, prescribes septrin etc in wombourne, they also have a practice in Gornal, dudley. Called wombrook in rookery lane wombourne (just outside wolverhampton)

Vets 4 pets in Tipton is the one i use, Jo Day is the vet shes very good. and has lots of experience with the smaller animals.
The nurse is also very experienced as she ran a G. Pig and Rabbit Rescue for many years. x

Jo Day is also my vet and is lovely. Have never had call for anything 'out of the ordinary' with my piggies (tho she did a fab job of Dude's castration) but she has worked tirelessly with me to sort out 2 of my bunnies who have been very poorly. She researches and is up-to-date plus EXTREMELY caring and understands how important our small furries are. Highly recommended from me! x

Great, thanks for that......fingers crossed I never need one, but it's good to know there are some piggy friendly vets nearby. Tracey

If you ever get stuck I have Paul's number in redditch, well worth the journey he works with the cct and has years of experience with pigs, not a vet as such but more of a guinea pig guru.
