hi my guinea pig has had this on his eye it’s like red in his eye like blood he hides it sometimes you can’t tell when I touch it you can see it. Also he can’t close the eye for the past 4 days he eats regularly, drinks pops basic guinea pig needs. Just this his eye is like that, I’m not sure what to do I bought him terramycin antibiotic eye ointment in case it would help him. It would mean a lot to me if you guys would help me and tell me what’s wrong with him or what might have caused it.

Welcome to the forum.
Please don’t use shop bought ointment. Such products are not strong enough to deal with a problem and you run the risk of doing more harm than good.
Home treatment is not recommended on the forum as it may also disguise the real problem.
Please see a vet.
Only a vet can give you a proper diagnosis and treatment.
Eyes are classed as emergencies so your vet should see you quickly.
Please keep us posted.
Hope all goes well at the vets for you.

There isn’t a picture added, but even if there was, our advice would still be the same.
Any eye issue is classed as urgent And needs to be seen by a vet quickly. The quicker you seek treatment for an eye issue the better the chance of a positive outcome. Please do not add anything to the eye that has not been prescribed by a vet. Any treatment needs to be on the basis of a diagnosis given by a vet and treatment prescribed by a vet. Using any treatment before seeing a vet can make the issue worse, and wipe the scene making diagnosis by a vet much harder

Hi and welcome

:agr: with @Piggies&buns .

Please be aware that a bulging eye is either the result of an abscess behind the eye (retrobulbar abscess) or of glaucoma. In either case you need to see a vet as soon as you can in order to save the eye. Retrobulbar abscesses are not uncommon. They require a strong antibiotic.
