Guinea Pig Wont Eat

Could you tell us some more info,

How old he is, how long you've had him, if he has eaten normally since you've had him, does he have any dental issues, how much does he weigh, how much critical care your feeding, what dose of medication he is on etc etc.

Anything that might be useful, if he isn't eating then he'll have no energy to eat, you need to feed plenty of critical care or pellet mush, and if he doesn't take it volunterily then you need to forece feed him literally!

Just read through your previous thread and noticed you live in Cheshire, I beleive there is a highly recomended vet in cheshire called Molly Varga http://www.cheshirepet.com/contact-us/ perhaps she may be able to advise

After dental work it can take some time for piggies to be able to eat again. Furryfriends on here is really knowledgable on dental problems and may be able to offer more in depth advice also. She runs a sanctuary for dental piggies.

I am really sorry you are going through this awfully tough time.

We're not sure on his exact age but we think around 4 and a half, the vet basically said he's on every medication they can give him and there is nothing more they can do, and said that critical care is not a long term solution so we are just giving him a tiny amount of mashed up nuggets through a syringe, he is eating nothing he has small bites of fruit and veg but that’s about as far as it goes, he eats grass but not alot, he had his teeth done a week ago now started to eat but then stopped after about a day. He still seems bright in himself and we had him out all day today and he was running around, but he hasn't really been eating properly for over 2 months now, we was still eating his fresh and a little bit of dry, we have tried every brand of dry but he wouldn't/wont eat it. His nose still sounds abit snuffely but we've nearly run out of baytril. We had to have our other piggie but to sleep 3 weeks ago due to a tumour, but him and my piggie I still have were kept in separate cages due to fighting and the vet said getting him a friend wont make a difference, all she said they can do is put him to sleep :( I went to see Molly Varga with my other piggie and in my opinion she was useless, she weighed him, gave is no indication as to what was wrong with him and told us to go back the next day for an x-ray at a cost of £70 on top of the £50 consultation fee she had already charged us for doing absolutely nothing, and he was pretty week so I don't think he would have made it through the x-ray

Whilst I can't comment on Molly Varga as I have never had any dealings with her, I do have a dental guinea pig here at the Sanctuary who wasn't making any progress whilst he was being treated by her but is now making progress under the veterinary care of Simon Maddock.
