Hallo everyone,

I am new here and site is great. I also have two guinea pigs Tina and Tara, females. Recently Tina is not ok, her head is tilting to one side and walks funny. Act scarry but still eats, not like before but I think that is ok.
I took them to vet and he said it is ear infection. Both received injection but I don't remember what. Three more they will receive. Looks Tina is better.

However, I would like to ask if anybody was using a Zapper developed by dr Hulda Clark which is killing all parazites in human body, cats, dogs and bigger animals, but I can't find if this is safe to use on guinea pigs.

I am so sorry for these nice creatures that they become seek and suffer.
This zapper may be great thing but a reserch should be done before doing something.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I am sorry your piggie is unwell.

I am unsure why your vet would treat both guinea pigs if the problem in one is an ear infection. Do you know what injection was given to your guineas?

Ear infections can cause a head tilt, but strokes and other conditions also can. In what way is your guinea walking funny?

I do not feel that a zapper would be safe to use on guinea pigs. Various parasites can be killed off with different types of medicines; since there is already a "tried and tested" treatment for most (if not all) parasites that are known to affect guinea pigs, internally and externally, I would not feel comfortable using or advising on the use of a zapper without considerable research and backing by those specialised in guinea pig medical care.

All the animals you mention are considerably larger and "hardier" than guinea pigs. It is an unfortunate fact that piggies do hide their illnesses and appear to become very sick very quickly.

I have seen those zappers advertised but have not seen them recommended for use on guinea pigs.
I would not use one on my pigs because the use of an anti-parasitic drug, such as Ivomec, is both safe and effective against mites, whilst shampoos are, again, safe and effective against those types of parasites that live on the skin.
It is possible that your pig did have an ear "infection", or more accurately, an infestation, of parasites which is why the vet gave them both an injection to stop the problem passing backwards and forwards between the pigs.
Do ask your vet exactly what the problem was and what was in the injection .

Thanks guys

Thanks for both replies above. Tina is tillting a head to the left but thanks God this morning she is better. Still not walking like before. Somehow she is like scared, the motoric functions are not like before. Vet said it will take like that a week until disappering. But I am happy she is eating.

I didn't ask vet what he gave Tina and Tara, but next week I will go again for next injection round. Belive me I was so scarred for Tina that I was asking and explaining so much just to help vet to get right diagnosis. He said it is not dangerous but must bring both guinea pigs for next four weeks to get injections. He said that the other one would be seek for sure if not threated.

As said I must clarify next time.

Thanks
