most probably especially if they have a light coat. I saw a white cat once that liked to lay in the sun and its ears often got burnt and don't know what happened but now it has no ears:( It was a rescue cat and now the new owner puts suncream on her.
Ive never had a problem with sunburn on my piggies, or my white cat lol

i've had three pigs who've had one pink ear, and none of them got sunburned.
but i never put them outside during the hottest part of the day, i make sure the sun's not right overhead the run, and i always make sure they have somewhere to get some shade

I have heard certain sunscreen is ok for piggies and people use it on piggies with no hair on ears or for piggies with pink ears. Hopefully someone will post acceptable types I am inclined to use the simple factor 50 cream I have for my face as i am extremly allergic to all creams / lotions and gel sun creams and this is perfect for me so I wouldn't think twice before putting it on my piggies :)

I don't know about piggies, but cats can get cancer in the ears which I believe can be caused by sunburn, and if that happens, the ears have to be amputated.
