I strongly suspect that Gus Gus, who is now about five and half years old, has hyperthyroidism, though it has not yet been confirmed.
I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with or has first hand experience with the condition in guinea pigs.
My dog, Owen, has hyperthyroidism and is on medication so I know the basics. I guess I'm just looking for any feedback on piggies with the condition. I'm planning to schedule a vet's appointment for this coming week and was thinking the following and wondered if anyone has any other suggestions or info they can share.
He should have a physical exam, of course. Maybe an x-ray to look for any growths and to get a peek at his heart. He'll need blood work to check his T4 level and his kidney function. Maybe he should have a senior blood panel. I don't know. What do you think?
