Last night OH did all of the piggy veg/pellet/hay and water top ups,for the first time i didnt double check he had done it all correctly, when i woke up this morning i went in there and the silly man had put Cooper-Beau & Windsor-Dukes water bowl in with zanzabar and Baker,I'm so lucky i have water bottles in the cages for Backup:...,i did quickly check that they were ok as they dont like the water bottle and i was worried they would be thirsty, they were fine.I was a bit grumpy at OH because i said to him had it been Zanzi and Bakers bowl he hadnt put in there cage they would have died as there water bottle isnt attached at the moment, will have to make sure all is in order for myself in futurerolleyes

Oh dear! Well at least no harm has come of it - and I'm sure OH has learnt his lesson! I've never had anything go wrong, but I do like things done 'my way' :)):)) well who doesn't?!

i hope he has too but i dont think its the end of it,he seems to be very clumsy with piggies he dropped our first piggy and almost dropped baker to when we first got him,he doesnt seem to hold them right so now i make him use vickyt's method of the pigloo and tea towel so they are transprted safely x

my hubby has nothing to do with my piggies the one time he did put them to bed for me
my 11 year old son had to instruct him to who lived were oh well never mind
at least he doesent complain about me having 14 of them glad your piggies are ok

At least he try's! My OH totally stays away from all the furries we have, he's scared of them, it runs in the family, his mum doesn't like them either, so the more she complains the more I talk about them.

My hamster, Chips, comes in useful for keeping her away from the house. rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

like they say if you want some thing doing do it your self no one can do it as good as you:(|)

haha he is quite good and does love the but he is a 6 ft something giant who is clumsy to boot so he is better suited to dogs lol
thats funny my MIL dislikes rats so i brought them out reguarly whenever she came over, lets just say the visits decreased but the phone calls increasedrolleyes

HMMMM - I relate. I do the cage cleaning and feeding and stuff here. Hubby helps to empty the cage and puts up the indoor run if needed but I do all the actual welfare duties.

Glad all piggies were okay.

My hubby has actually started to talk to my piggies, but he still calls ALL of them "guinea pig" - never mind the current lot have Welsh names now and that he bawls his eyes out when they die... He won't pick them up, but he's getting a bit better with cuddling them. Now that's REAL progress for five years of having piggies in the living room! mallethead

My MIL actually quite liked Nerys and Nia (big relief) when she was here a couple of weeks ago - but they can't hold water with Paul O'Grady's Buster...

PS Bonnie: Guinea pigs don't die if they are without water for a day, as long as they have fresh veg. One of my guinea pigs NEVER drank, not because she couldn't, just because she refused to!

thats good to know, the problem is they eat all there veg within 30mins so they would have been without water for 9 hours which did worry me alot x

Best put a note on the cage saying: "water bowl in here!"

I've given up giving the love of my life detailed instructions - he is a dear, but he won't listen and can't remember them anyway; so anything that needs doing "just so" is been written down! Unfortunately, piggies don't come with electric circuits and gears... :{

yeah i agree,he is not to bad normally although we are working on his piggy handling and holding skills as i dont want another repeat of Boris or what nearly happened to Baker,
When we go away next i have devised a plan to put photos of each piggy/bowls on each cage so they all go in the correct spots as last time we went to sydney to pick up Windsor-Duke & Cooper-Beau i came home to find mum had mixed up every piggy bowl and none of them had the right one she even cleaned the hay mangers and got them wrong too and told me she almost put Ralphy in Zanzabar and Bakers cage:...

Lol its funny how even simple instructions baffle most men. I always have to double check when my OH's done something to make sure he hasnt completely screwed it up! :))

Hes allergic to the piggies fur so he doesnt do anything with them and claims that hes not a fan, but when he thinks I'm not looking he goes to have a look at the girls and likes to give them cuddles hehe

Glad your boys were ok and good thinking about the back ups. You will have to stick post it notes everywhere to remind him how to do it properly in the future! :(|)

thanks,my OH is allergic too, seems to be a common allergy, he also still cuddles them and restocks hay even though the hay sends him in a watery itchy frenzy lol, imagine if he knew i was telling a whole forum about his clumsiness lol:))

I generally feed/water the piggies. Morning and Night. And even though Dan is allergic to animal fur....he seems ok with the piggies. Yesterday i came home from work, sat in the recliner and closed my eyes for about 10 minutes. Of course he got in the fridge and the girls heard him(I wasnt asleep) They went crazy! I mean, Its dinner time!....so he went over and picked up Abby to cuddle her...I could hear it all...kept my eyes closed though! Well she preceeded to bite him...twice lol I opened my eyes and said....she wants her food...not your fingers, she's trying to tell you she's hungry.
Of course....I had to get up and feed them...he's too scared to...lol
