Hafina joins the tribe

As the afternoon has turned so lovely, I have put all piggies outside. Hafina was a bit panicky going in the blue box again to be carried to the lawn, but everything was alright as soon as she realised where she was - on a nice patch of lush grass right next to the tribe.

Within five minutes, there was quite a bit of interest:

Within ten minutes, the flirting had started:

And within a quarter of an hour, all signs were for go!

So off Hafina went to join the Tribe in the run. Everything went absolutely smoothly; I have heard not one single teeth chatter since Hafina arrived. There was quite a bit of excitement, though!

Sadly, I can't say that Llewelyn's chat up lines have improved with all the experience he's had! There was quite a bit of chasing going on. (However, he's now sleeping right next her after giving her a little kiss on the ear!)

Hafina was nuzzling Nerys' back who - to my utter astonishment - seemed to like it!

And even let Hafina suggle up to her - miracles happen!

I am really jealous that you are at home to watch your piggies - wish I was at home watching mine instead of in boring old work!
 
That's excellent news. She certainly looks like she's fitted in with the tribe well. What a lovely afternoon you've all had.
 
I simply loved these pictures, and your usual perfect commentary, but you know, it actually brought tears to my eyes. It must've been so heartwarming to watch the introductions, and I kept thinking of how warm 'n' fuzzy little Hafina must have felt on becoming a member of the Tribe. She's a lovely girl, and I am SO GLAD she's with you.

I now await an avatar picture duly amended to show 10!

what lovely pictures Hafina looks gorgeous and settling in well and always love seeing picture of your tribe.
 
Thanks everybody! I am relieved that the intro has gone so well!

We have now already moved on to phase 2 - where to slot in with the hierarchy. Hafina is probably going to end up close to the bottom. She is very much a screamer and not at all a fighter - probably not helped by her eye trouble which must have left her half blind for much of the time!

But seeing how timid Cariad has blossomed, I am confident that Hafina will do the same eventually; none of the girls is particularly vicious.
 
Please send one of your girls here Wiebke to teach mine some MANNERS. Because mine seem to forget them and go all fussy about having a man to themselves. I am jealous but in a good way! So wonderful to see Hafina settling in so smoothly, it really is heartwarming seeing the Tribe grow so effortlessly (or at least it seems that way) and another needy piggie getting their special place with you.

Looking forward to seeing more of this little girlie. :)

And no, my intros may have looked easy, but they have not always been as smooth and have taken a lot of thinking and adjusting - even this one; each intro is different. Hafina is very much running on her limit right now and I am having a careful ear/eye out on how she is taking to life with the Tribe in the big cage.

I have also been lucky in that unlike you, I started out with a neutered boar; and I have been very careful in which (undominant) sows I have offered a home after my own failure last year just after I'd joined the forum - I learned my lesson then!

It also helps having gained a certain experience - you can read the signs better and have alternatives at the ready if one way doesn't work out. And know when to stand back even though it's not easy!

The main thing is to know that your setting is not the right one for every rescue piggy - but there are so many that is pays to concentrate on those you are right for. You have a great collection of big personalities, and there are days when I very much envy you!
 
Oh Wiebke i agree with Sue, tears came to my eyes, i'm so so happy that little Hafina has joined the Tribe, i'm sure in the months to come she'll show her true pigsonality x)
LOVED all the snuggling and nuzzling pics x) and OMG she was sooo close up and pigsonal with Nerys :... but it seems she has won her over, this may help her in the pecking order!
ROFL poor Llewi he just gets in such a tizz when meeting a new lady doesn't he :(|);)

I have been trying to tell him for about the last 10 girls? But he just doesn't listen... Not a laid back cuddle-to-bits boar, he! rolleyes
 
I'm away for 2 weeks and I come back to a few BIG news! Well done... she's a gorgeous girl...
