Hi, I have 2 boys who are almost three years old and have lived together since birth, Doug is long-haired, or has been until recently! I have recently caught my other pig Angus chewing Doug's hair from his back and bum area, Doug's hair used to almost touch the ground behind him but now it is completely cropped thanks to Angus' chewing! I'm not sure what is causing this behaviour or how to stop it, is it a dominance type of behaviour like barbering or caused by boredom or stress? It doesn't seem to cause Doug any stress, I caught Angus chewing once and Doug didn't even seem to notice he was there but I know it's not healthy for either of them for Angus to be chewing hair like this, please help!

My Jess self-barbers occasionally (on her tummy recently) but her poor past boyfriends (at the rainbow bridge) Sheepy and Rupert used to put up with it from her too! Mainly around their faces/chins after syringe feeding when they’d been a bit under the weather! Poor Sheepy was a big, very hairy alpaca and ended up with a very close slave under his chin when she liked to ‘clean him up’ after his feeds! They’d pretty much just let her do what she wanted the little madam!
