Hey everyone,
I need help with my guinea pig Micki he is a Abyssinian and lives in Australia, he has a scaly rash on his back and were worried that it might be spreading we have been noticing hair lose where the rash is. The rash is red with white dandruff bits, and no he doesn't have mites. What might be causing this and how can we treat it?
please comment quickly

Hi, welcome to the forum. Do you have access to a vet? if so he needs to see the vet as it sounds like a fungal infection to me. Only a vet can diagnose though.

Hi! It sounds like it could be fungal. Please see a vet for a proper diagnosis. Not treating properly or correctly can make things a lot worse. We cannot diagnose via the internet without seeing and handling the piggy, we can only give you avenues to pursue and tell when you need to see a properly trained vet.
We recommend a product with itraconazole for oral treatment or a dip with enilconazole as active ingredient as the most effective for fungal issues. Please make sure that any companion piggies also get a fungal bath to prevent it from spreading if that is the diagnosis.
