Our lovely Florrie (15 months old) was spayed 2 weeks ago for cystic ovaries which didn't respond well enough to hormone injections. It was lucky we got it done as the right ovary was huge (weight of ovaries/uterus removed 130g!)
She really bounced back very quickly, vet was very pleased both post op and at weekly post op check. Scar is amazing, she is running around and eating just like normal, had put on 50g weight, however she does seem to be moulting a lot but no dandruff or other skin problems evident. Would you think this could just be the after effects of the stress to the body by a big op?

it does sound like it could be a reaction by her immune system to the recent op and recovery etc, especially as she's not got any dandruff and isn't scratching or anything. cysts can really affect the body with absorbing nutrients and fighting other illnesses so hopefully now she is spayed, her hair will gradually work it's way towards being healthy again as her whole system settles down. mollie had a spay nine weeks ago tomorrow and her hair has gradually improved since then and looks fantastic now. but any worries just have the vet take a look just to be sure, but it does sound like it's to do with the op and will hopefully get better as time goes on :)

Maybe try some metatone tonic to give her a bit of boost?

Aw, how old is Mollie? Did she recovery quickly? Our little Florrie has been amazing, she's always been the littlest piggy and yet she's such a brave little fighter and the most agile energetic piggie out of the whole bunch!

she's around 4yrs 4months old approx. she did really well with the spay overall. she had a slight blip after the stronger injected painkiller wore off, even though she was on twice daily metacam aswell. but i think she needed extra help because of having a bladder condition and ovarian cyst hormone issues. but once we got past that blip, which didn't last long really, she went from strength to strength.

florrie sounds like mollie actually - a small piggy but a real tough cookie :luv: so glad she has done so well :)
