I have 4 guinea pigs and they all share a cage. Two of them are mother and daughter but I have recently found the mother has large hair loss patches and I don’t know what to do. We have had her for a year and they have lived together ever since. Please can someone help.

Thanks

Hi! Please have them vet checked; it can be mange mites, a fungal infection or hormonal problems (in the last case, the hair loss is symmetrical on both sides of the body). Malnutrition (vitamin C deficiency) can also cause hair loss.

All of these issues require different treatment. From your description it is impossible for us to give you more precise avenues to pursue with your vet. Please don't be tempted to treat your guinea pigs on spec with a low dosed broad spectrum product as that can make things worse rather than better and will in the end cost you more than if you go to a good vet straight away.
