Two of my female guinea pigs (who are sisters) have lost their hair at the base of their rump. They live with another 2 baby females and a neuteured male. The other 3 are not showing these signs.

I have looked at them and it doesn't appear to be mites or anything like that. Their skin is not sore, flaky, or itchy. It is not affecting anywhere else on their body. They have also recently had preventahutive treatment for lice/mites (Xeno-450).

They are still their normal selves and eating and active.

They are about 2 years old. Have plenty of hay, fresh veg twice daily and good quality dred food rich in vitamin C. They are also very entertained as they come out to play daily.

Has anyone else had this with their piggies? Or have any idea what it maybe?

It might be the start of a fungal infection. Sometimes though piggies can lose their hair if they are feeling run down or a bit stressed.

Thanks. I wondered whether it was stress. One of the boars living with them recently died and I wondered if this could have that effect on them.

I have some shampoo from gorgeous guinea pigs so will give them a wash as well and keep an eye on it.
