Brillo came home with me 5 years ago today. How time flies! I went into P&H for some supplies and when all the little babies ran away and hid as I walked by, Brillo stood up against the glass and a little voice said "get me out of here". Red had recently had a fight with Caspy who ended up with a bite on his back so with two singles he could possibly live with my heart ruled my head and home the little ball of fuzz came.

Another vet said Dignified Sir George needs to lose weight. Don't these people know a chunky hunk of boarliness when they see it?
How exactly do you put them on a diet?
Mine only have the forum recommended amount of pellets and the only naughty thing is peaflakes which are very limited, especially when I can't remember which box they got packed in.

I don't know how I would put mine on a diet. The conversation went a bit like this.
Vet - 'Cut down on pellets, people always feed too many pellets'.
Me - 'They get 6 - 10 in the morning and the same in the afternoon'.
Vet - 'Cut out root vegetables and fruit'.
Me - 'They only get a bit of apple or banana a couple of times a year and a carrot sliver once a month if that'.
She gave up then!
Brillo's not overweight as far as I'm concerned. He's an old boy now with old boy health problems, he's 200gms lighter than in his prime. After being seriously ill and on antibiotics for 2 months in 2022 I'm happy with his weight. If he got ill again he's got a bit he can lose without it being a major problem. This was a new vet at the practise they change every year as they train vets to specialise in exotics. I don't think she liked guinea pigs, some don't, I can tell! I'm always sad when the good ones go, we've had some lovely piggy vets there.
