I want to share this because I want to know if anyone else feels the same way sometimes.
Do you ever have moments where your piggies just make you so happy that your eyes well up?

It sounds odd...But hear me out.

My boys have been bored for a while now. They don't popcorn, run laps...Nothing. They just seem miserable. It's made me down because I felt like I was failing them...

They haven't had much floor time lately which is awful and when they have had it...They've cowered in a corner...Which is why I haven't really given them too much...Since it seemed to scare them.
I went to give them a cuddle just now and instead I thought giving them Floor Time would be best.
I lay some towels on the floor, put down 2 Pigloos, a large chube and their favorite rattle toys (They actually roll them...I assume it's because they like the sound.) and I stood back and watched.
At first Arnold ran for the large Pigloo...But Ralph decided to explore...He nudged a rattle toy and suddenly he sprung into the air.
Arnold carefully scuffled out of the Pigloo and stood by Ralph. They exchanged a little wheek...And suddenly Ralph just darted off, running around and popcorning all over the place. Within seconds, Arnold was following him.

My room is right above where I am now and you'd mistake their fun for thunder!
I can hear them leaping about.

But it was when I was watching them...It just brough a tear to my eye. Seeing them so happy after they've been moping about.

Is it stupid to feel so happy just because they feel happy?
I'm often told that I'm too soft...But seeing my boys so happy...It just made me feel even happier.

Now, I talk alot. I want you guys to share, too.
Tell me of happy, touching moments...Because I can't be the only one. You all must have a story to share and I'd love to hear them! :<>

You aren't the only one that's for sure! I also feel like you when I know i'm doing a good job with ANY creature in my care even my kids!

I felt exactly as you are describing the first time the Bessie and Gypsy popcorned. They were part of the chippenam pig rescue and came here and into a hutch outside. I had been warned they weren't used to handling and in fact they would freak out when held. They lived outdoors for about 4 - 6 weeks and in the end I decided to bring them in as they spent the majority of the time in the bedroom area. So I got them a cage and in they came. After 3 or 4 days they got the routine of the chopping board and knife cutting up their veggies and would come out of their hideys and then I couldn't believe my eyes when they popcorned and started to dart about like my other piggies do at veggies time! It was incredible. I was over the moon and definitely teary.

So no you aren't alone and I think how you feel is a testimony to how much you love your piggies. Bravo you!

I have had many moments like this but the biggest two that have stood out are of my first piggy Boris who has now gone to the bridge.
a quick summary is that he broke some vertabrae in his back so he was in a splint,he also suffered from bumblefoot, internal and external fungal,he was indeed a very sick pig,i had him for one whole day before our lifes came crashing down with the news of his back,we were told it would be a long road to recovery.
As our relationship was so new i never expected him to like me at all and i had to give him meds/help him toilet and clean him.

The first Happened when he started to regain use of his back legs and i was in front of him with one of his fave foods pak choy and i was just telling him how strong and brave he was and calling him and he took those first few steps,
it was then i realised how big our bond together was and i couldnt stop smiling that day,i was so proud.

the second was when he was very sick and i knew he didnt have long,i was cuddling him and crying my heart out at the thought of losing him,i havent felt many moments of pain like that before,Boris strangely picked up that i was upset and licked my arm,i brought him near my face to kiss him and he licked my nose,i had no idea he could bring me more happiness than at that moment,
it almost like he was telling me "mum it will be ok"

the affection he showed to me and determination to get better made me smile so often no matter how many tears were shed.and of course I'm crying now!
i think alot of us are soft when it comes to piggies and i think its really sweet what you experienced with your boys, its moments like those that make the tough times easier to get through, your boys sound very loved xxxxxxx

I'm in tears now Bonnie!

But i know how you's all feel
When Jensen got attacked and was a mess of fur and blood I never expected him to live let alone be the popcorny little terror he is! if he does something wrong he'll popcorn away *** he knows i wont tell him off then! :))

It is truly amazing the joy and happiness these little creatures can bring to your life. I never thought I would feel the bond and connection with these little that I do when I first ventured into the wonderful world of piggies seven years ago. When I lost my first piggie, Bob, I was overwhelmed by grief. I have lost two piggies over the years and I'm sure if I knew then what I know now then perhaps I could have shared my life with them a little longer. I continue to learn every day about these intriguing little animals and can use my even increasing knowledge to provide the best care possible for my current four piggies. The rewards are wonderful and I cant imagine my life now with sharing it without piggies. I have a fridge magnet which I think sums up life with piggies, 'Happiness is sharing your life with a Guinea Pig'. Your story was lovely and brought a tear to my eye.

Beautiful stories from all of you. I was crying only the other night, cuddling Elijah and Errol and just feeling the love, the security and the happiness. I could immerse myself entirely in their world and quite happily never come out. (The forum and my forum friends are part of that world...couldn't live without that!)

Thanks for sharing, guys :)p

It's nice to know we aren't alone with the crazy, teary piggy love!

And I agree, it's amazing how much happiness they bring.
When I got my boys, I knew I'd love them but I never knew how much. I can't remember what I used to do with my time, before I had them.
They only take up an hour or more of my time each day...But I can't remember just getting out of bed and doing anything other than giving them fresh hay, nuggets and water...I can't remember what it feels like to come home from work and not have a cuddle on the sofa with them

It hasn't even been 12 months yet but it feels like they've always been there. It's a really nice feeling xx>>>

I've shed tears at all your stories, I miss my little family so much, although I know they've gone to good homes.
I visited a friend during the week who lives a 2 hour train journey away - had a dreadful journey, arrived hours late which cut into my very short day anyway, and was quite stressed when I arrived. She sat me down with a coffee and a piggie in my lap and the calming effect from one lovely little boy was amazing. In fact, she has 57 piggies, and I managed to cuddle and snuggle nearly 50 of them during the day. A wonderful experience, simply lovely piggies all of them.
So I know what you mean, and that fridge magnet says it all.
