Hi guys - was wondering is anyone used Harringtons food for your other pets and if someone could identify this strange piece of food i found in my large bag of Optimum guinea pig nuggets.

This is the 5th one ive found - the first and 2nd ones i just chucked without thinking too much about it - the other two i found i started to get suspicious and so put them to one side - now i cannot locate them so someone's chucked them mallethead

But today when my partner filled the guinea pig bowls i walked past shortly after and spotted another in the bowl he'd just filled - i removed it immediately and took a photo - i will be contacting Harringtons tomorrow - but rather than them fob me off, i was wondering if anyone had any idea's of what other pet food it actually is?

My immediate thought was cat food - of the chicken variety - but I'm uncertain....

Wow i've no idea what that is - it doesn't look very tasty though whatever animal its for!

Glad you got it before your piggies did!

?/ Whatever it is, i don't think it should be there that's for sure!

Exactly!

The difference between the two pellets (the optimum guinea pig and this one) is very different hence why I'm thinking this is of the cat/dog food variety and i want to know why it's in with my guinea pig food!! Not pleased to say the least!

I did zoom in with my camera - and the coin you see a 1p coin ;)

The worrying thing is that before the first one was found - my daughter likes to top up the piggies pellet bowls - so between me finding the first, I'm unsure of how many others there were and how many my piggies have potentially digested before us noticing!

They are all fine and I'm pretty sure they'd need to eat larger quantities for them to have any ill effect - nonetheless it's still frustrating, i dont buy food to rifle through to ensure it's safe before feeding - it's unacceptable!

It definetly looks like its food for a diffrent type of animal. Good thing you caught it in time

I dont know if it is just me but the last 2 bags of Burgess have had dog pellets in. I have emailed them and they have assured me it is a one off, and the production lines are cleaned between each process. I have got a bag of Harrington for the new girls as that is what they were on. I am going to peer in it....no mine is fine I have just tipped it all out of the bag and then back in. I got an apology from Burgess and 5 x £2 vouchers! So worth a good moan.

Was spot cleaning the cage this evening before piggies tea and hoovered another one up - looked like it was a half eaten one :{ - well i couldn't be sure as the suction on our new hoover is that powerful before i could even stop it, it was gone (it was one of those times where you spot something just as the hoover sucks it up) i did have a quick look in the hoover's cylinder, but couldn't find it :)>>>

Will let you know what Harringtons says tomorrow - will be phoning as opposed to emailing - i want answers! lol
