Just been & cleaned out my girls. When i put Izzy back she seemed fine. I went from the shed to the garden to get some grass for her & when i come bk ( 2/3 mins at most) she had buried herself under all her fresh bedding. Laughing i moved all the bedding to show her the grass i got her. This is when all didnt seem right. She was still moving but seemed lob sided. I picked her up to check i wasnt seeing things & then put her back as she seemed calm etc. She them shuffled lob sided again before falling onto her side. Her back leg then seemd to twitch 2 maybe 3 times. I stroked her very gently & she felt warm etc. After again 2 /3 mins i range my hubby ( i always take my mobile as next doors cat has scratched the shed & knocked the latch locking me in!) & he came out. However before he got there she got up & i just made her bed & gave her some grass which she ate. I rang my vet & told the nurse all of the above & explained i was concerned also at stressing her out which alone can kill, with a car journey of 12 miles there & back & she spoke to the vet & said it could have been a stroke, as there were no the illness syptoms, but obviously without seeing her it was impossible to tell. He also said the best thing for now was to keep her warm & quiet. I have just checked her & she seems bright enough, however i dont think she mas moved a lot....she is sitting upright & has just eaten some spinach which i left earlier, but i put this close to her as it was in the middle of the hutch. Therefore i am concerned that she is unable to move? i have to say she is a friendly piggie & this is her usual spot to sleep & would not necessarily move when she saw me so its difficult to know if anything is wrong at the moment. A vet visit will definitely be on the cards if sshe doesnt improve but i wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts or experiences with this! its so worrying.........

aww i hope shes ok, i am not experienced in anything like this, did'nt want to read and run, hope fullyfully some one who knows more than me will be along soon :{:{:(:(

it does sound like a mini stroke, just keep her warm and quiet and watch carefully. One of my finches kept doing this, it was very scary but he had about 3 and then still carried on another year or so....fingers crossed it was just a tiny hiccup x

well just to update. Izzy seems 'fine' she has moved around the hutch herself & is eating normally. I just hope she will be 'fine' tomorrow & the next day...... I have left her warm & quiet as the vet suggested so hopefully alll will be well. Thanks for your help.

GP Stroke or fit?

Molly one of our GP's had a Fit, She suddenly started to make irrational, circular movements and her eyes appeared enlarged and different. Molly was a house GP so we were well aware of any change in her health and behaviour. She recovered rapidly with love warmth and basic care. She never had another fit and lived until she was 6.

Please bring your GP inside into the warmth where you will be able to monitor her progress and at the same time able to administer not only the love and affection that she needs but any fluids food whatever. Make her feel wanted and give her a desire to want to recover and live to a good age. I apologise for sounding harsh. We now only have rosy and she will be 8 this Easter. Rosy was born at home with us and she is a house GP. All the best Kris.
